Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are used very commonly to improve skin appearance and condition. Many types of peels have been used for over 100 years. They may vary from very mild Glycolic acid to very deep Phenol based. Mild peels are usually repeated every month for 4-6 months to achieve improvement in skin clarity and tone. These are the “lunchtime” peels that have very little downtime and cause only mild redness. This type peel does not require anesthesia and causes a mild burning sensation. Stronger peels may require anesthesia and will cause the skin to “peel” for a week or more, causing significant downtime, but the results may be worth the extra hassle for those with more severe sun damage and aging. Dr Jordan has used a wide variety of chemical peeling agents in his practice for over 15 years and will discuss which options may be most suitable for you.
