SKIN TIGHTENING

The Thermage™ unit by Thermacool TC is used for skin tightening. This device uses radiofrequency energy to affect the deep tissue and cause tightening and new collagen deposition. It cannot take the place of a facelift for those who need one, but it can help lift and tighten the skin in patients who do not have the degree of aging necessitating, or for those who do not want a facelift. Thermage requires multiple treatment sessions to achieve the best results. Because the device has some relatively expensive disposables, it is not less expensive than a facelift. There is swelling after the procedure that will require some downtime. Anesthetic cream and cooling sprays are used to make the procedure comfortable. While there have been complications reported with the device in the early phases, the newer treatment protocols appear safe and effective. Dr Jordan will discuss whether or not you are a good candidate for this procedure, or whether a facelift or other procedure may be of more benefit to you.
